THE PROBLEM

To develop and approve the design of a hybrid passenger ferry for use
on the commuter route across Auckland Harbour, New Zealand.

The project manager had a number of very specific technical issues and
questions on which a second opinion was needed.

As experts in the maritime industry with a vast wealth and variety
of experience, MSI was approached to tackle this problem.

OUR SOLUTION

MSI undertook a range of different research projects into the developing market for hybrid vessels, the main manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries, known public domain issues with lithium-ion batteries, specific performance issues with anti-fouling paint, safety management system controls and consultancy advice on the new building contract.
